The Cake, in 3D
Posted on Jul 01, 2010

Hi, it's the delivery boy again! Have you heard about 3D TV? it's supposed to be the next big thing. 3D movies, too--the movie Avatar made many millions because it was in 3D. I think it's because everything around you is in true 3D so the images you see in movies or on TV are more fulfilling when they fit this reality.
How, you might ask, is he going to tie this back to the cakes? Well, look at this piggie picture. This is a real cake that Penny created for a customer who just wanted "a pig." There was a time when you would go to a bakery or your local grocery and ask for a pig cake, and you'd get a flat cake with a gel-drawn cartoon of Wilbur on it; certainly you can still do that if you want, and there are many bakeries to choose from. That's your mainstream, flat screen 2D TV, you might say. But Penny and Stella could each be referred to as the James Cameron of the cake business--pushing the envelope as far as it can be stretched to bring you much more than you expect in your "cake experience!" It's the cake you get for that special occasion when what everyone else is doing just isn't enough. And once you experience 3D, going back to the old "flat-panel" cakes just won't be the same.
Remember—there's lots of 2D out there, and sometimes that might be the right way to go for your event. But when the time comes to get the absolute state of the art, a sculpted 3D cake is the way to go. And nobody in this area does it better than The Cake Boutique!
