Hello from Cake Delivery Central, welcome back to the Musings of the Delivery Boy. First I'd like to recognize the efforts of the Cake Ladies in delivering a real 5-tier wedding cake this week. You have no idea how much pressure that took off me! And it is a spectacular creation. So after they delivered they sent the Delivery Boy BACK to the venue, to take a picture of the cake, which is one of my other jobs. I like this part of the job so I was happy to wander back in. Took this photo:
I also took a dozen or so other pictures and it got me to thinking, what is the best angle from which to shoot a cake? Of course, every cake has a back--the ribbons have to come together, some have mating lines in the fondant, and other elements of the cake need to meet at some point. Those are things that often end up in the back. But even the back is a very clean part of the cake. And the other three sides are beautiful too! Stella said this cake looked best from an angle like this one:
I like this picture because it shows more detail on the cake, but I like the other one because of the lighting. So I can't say which way is the best way to shoot, but I think this is still one of the Boutique's greatest creations. Stella and Penny, a salute from the Delivery Boy for what may be your finest hour--SO FAR!
