Hello cake connoisseurs,
As someone who listens in on a lot of cake consultations at the Boutique, I often hear people ask what the advantages are of having a faux wedding cake.In my capacity as the official Cake Boutique "wedding cake delivery boy," I've recently found one of the distinct advantages of the faux cake concept--LESS WEIGHT! As you can see on the menu page of the Web site, there are a great many fancy flavors available, and some of them--particularly the banana split and various cheesecake flavors--can get pretty heavy. When that happens, a multi-tier wedding cake like the one in this picture...
...can get really, REALLY heavy. I'll bet this one was 75 pounds! It could not have been made with any more tiers without adjusting the flavors or amount of fillings used, I would imagine; the table might not have been able to hold it up... These cake ladies can make anything, real, faux or mixed; but sometimes the faux cake concept gives you a lot more flexibility in the design and size of your cake.
